Brown belt
May 2, 1992Portland, OR, USA Kim's Taekwon-do
Promoted byGrandmaster Kim, Hong SikMy instructor was Stan Anderson, 3rd dan. While I was a 1st degree purple belt, our federation's founder & president, GM Hong Sik Kim made a change to our belt system. He introduced the use of stripes and added a 10th kup to the belt system. Instead of obtaining my 3rd degree brown belt, I was awarded a brown stripe on my purple belt in January of 1992, and received my solid brown belt in May of that year, which corrolated to 2nd Kup. I recieved my 1st Kup, which was indicated by a black stripe on the brown belt, in September of 1992
